Adult Day Training Programs









Environmental Services – janitorial services and skills are learned in the segment of the training center. Training to improve skills and stay on task are important factors conveyed to consumers taking this course. Money can be earned while learning the skills and upon reaching certain levels, consumers may be selected to work on “off site” work crews where they can apply learned skills.

Horticulture Classes – Consumers choosing this path actually work toward a certificate of completion from South Florida Community College. Training is provided for all skill levels from basic to advanced and any one may participate. An outdoor classroom is utilized as well as the “traditional” classroom for various phases of training.

Computer Classes – basic skills of computer literacy are taught in the computer lab. Consumers have “hands on” experience while learning the basic concepts and benefits of computer technology.

Arts and Crafts – The arts and crafts room serves a dual purpose as it functions as a “recreation and relaxation” time for consumers as well as a teaching experience. They can learn a vast array of craft work and may display their work throughout the training center or create items to sell.

Cooking Classes – Cooking can be very important to consumers that live, or are planning on an independent living situation. Trained staff teach basic food preparation and cooking skills. Food sanitation and safety are also taught in this class. Fun recipes and activities, not to mention the food make this a sought after course at the training center.

Money, Reading and Writing Skills – Some consumers already possess basic skills in reading, writing and math. In this class, students are engages in learning experiences and academic training to enhance their abilities in money management and writing/reading skills. Basic teaching from coin recognition to higher level mathematics is taught to enhance and improve the consumer’s lifestyle.

Daily Living Skills – A very important aspect of learning is daily living skills. Classes are conducted to teach personal hygiene, personal appearance, social skills, how to apply for employment, how to keep a job, appropriate behavior in public, sexuality issues, etc. Issues from self esteem to current events are discussed and taught in this class through lecture, discussion, illustration, demonstration and role playing.

Aquaculture and Hydroponics Classes – Employability skills, social skills, and general life skills are taught in this course as consumers construct, operate and maintain a fish farm facility and a hydroponic vegetable growing operation. Consumers assist in the daily operations of monitoring the water quality, feeding operations, and construction and maintenance of recirculating tank systems, along with filtration units for proper growing conditions.

Arc Angels Flag Team – The flag team is comprised of consumers attending the Training Center. They come together to practice and perform drills, dances and marching routines which attract recognition and praise for their exhibitions and performances all over the Southeastern United States. They participate in fundraisers, festivals and parades providing entertainment for thousands.
